Kusaba Apartment Remodeling Project
Here are the gallery of Kusaba Apartment remodeling project, located in Oita-Shi, Oita, Japan, by Takao Shiotsuka. It is indoor modification of an old apartment. We set up two rules for newly performing interior to the violent state where all the existing interior materials were stripped off. One is a floor made from the concrete of the same height as an entrance. Space of the surface of a wall where it is painted white and a feeling of a material disappears.

Thus, two kinds of space where a floor and a wall are also contrastive has been arranged so that two rooms may appear at a time in a diagonal in four domains divided into the cross.
A floor just like a simple stage which was later placed simply to the existing building frame. Kitchen furniture, sanitary equipment, a door, etc. were designed as a thing like “the stage setting carried in later.” It means so that only mutual relation nature may appear strongly. The mutual relation obtained as a result appears in the spectacle of each part room.
